rock the shot: silhouette

A couple weeks ago, I had the privilege of photographing a friend’s wedding. It was beautiful, perfect, genuine- exactly what a wedding should be. While everyone was getting ready for the ceremony, I walked into the bedroom, when the bride’s sister was adjusting her dress. The window behind them resulted in a perfect silhouette. I’ve done a lot more traditional silhouettes with the sunset, which are beautiful as well, but I loved the uniqueness of this shot. It certainly wasn’t the first image that came to mind when I pondered which one to enter this month, but when I came across it today, it just popped at me. I chose to process it in black-and-white, using Lightroom, without much adjustments to the exposure or blacks, as I wanted the details to remain visible (& seriously, doesn’t that reflection on her arm look just like a heart?).
