i heart faces photo contest – Winter Wonderland

This week the i heart faces photo contest theme is winter wonderland. Boy, are we ever in the middle of one. Living in Alaska, people are quick to assume we have lots of snow a lot of the time. However, we live on an island with a maritime climate. As a result, we may have snow and 25 degrees today and rain and 40 degrees tomorrow. Right now, though, we are really getting a treat. It’s absolutely beautiful, with deep, fluffy snow everywhere. After getting geared up for some snow time today, Covey (my younger son) fell asleep on our five minute drive, so he napped while Mike and Ry built a snow cave. I took pictures, of course :) Actually, it was a snow volcano, per Ry’s request. We also found some very large icicles to play with and chow on, which is the photo I chose. I went back and forth on using one with a smile, but I liked his expression in this shot and I love how the lines of the icicles work with the lines of the porch railing in the background. For more winter wonderland, check out i heart faces!
